While Obama's campaign helped sweep hundreds of Democrats into office on national, state and local levels, the president's approval ratings have slipped now. Michigan's unemployment rate remains the nation's highest and, traditionally, the party out of power makes gains as the political pendulum swings.
"Those younger voters who flocked to the polls in 2008 are very unlikely to go to the polls for someone other than Barack Obama," said EPIC-MRA pollster Bernie Porn.
