Snyder, Schuette, Scott, and Raczkowski Sweep Straw Poll

TROY, MICHIGAN --- Today, Saturday, December 5, 2009, Michigan’s 9th Congressional District Republican Party held their annual “Pancakes & Politics” brunch event in Troy, Michigan. The forum featured all Republican candidates for Governor, Attorney General and Secretary of State. All brunch attendees participated in a straw poll for those same offices, as well as the 9th congressional district seat. A sellout crowd of 350 activists were in attendance.
All statewide GOP candidates spoke for 5 minutes to an excited crowd. Before and during the program, candidates actively sought support in the straw poll. The straw poll winners were:
Governor: Rick Snyder, 271 votes
Attorney General: Bill Schuette, 360 votes
Secretary of State: Paul Scott, 187 votes
9th District Congressman: Rocky Raczkowski, 333 votes
Ballot Question: Reaffirmation of ’08 RNC Platform, 451 votes
After the straw poll results were released, Glenn Clark, Chairman of the 9th Congressional District Republican Party, stated, “Rick Snyder, Bill Schuette, Paul Scott and Rocky Raczkowski all had impressive wins in this morning’s straw poll of GOP activists from Oakland County. We had a huge crowd with much excitement in the air for the coming elections. Each candidate worked hard for support in the straw poll and hearty congratulations to the victors.” Oakland County Clerk, Ruth Johnson, released the results to the brunch audience.
